Experience pays off for Kenny Perry
By Dave Seaman, Columbus Wired
There’s something about experience that gives a person a little edge in the final round of a golf tournament. For Kenny Perry, that experience led him to his third win at the 2008 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Course Sunday....more

(VIDEO) Behind the Ropes: Mickelson makes most of final five holes
Phil Mickelson must have figured something out during the 2 hour, 25 minute rain delay Saturday at Muirfield Village Country Club.  Mickelson birdied three of his final five holes to finish with a 69 during third round play. Click the video icon to get his thoughts on the comeback, coming back to a changing golf course, and accidentally hitting a fan with an errant tee shot.

(3rd Round BLOG - by Dan Farkas) Saturday afternoon thoughts from Muirfield:

bulletWeather always a factor at Muirfield
By Dave Seaman, Columbus Wired
Nothing is ever easy at Muirfield Village Golf Course.  Only three players ended the day with scores in the 60’s and the cut of six-over par became the highest cut at the Memorial since 1990 when the cut fell to plus-13. First round leader Mathew Goggin played for par to maintain his lead, but two-time winner Kenny Perry shot one-under to pull even with him going into the weekend. Both ended at 7-under 137 and one shot ahead of Jerry Kelly and Luke Donald, who had a 138...

bullet Matthew Goggin and former Memorial champion Kenny Perry are tied at 7-under par and atop the leaderboard after the 2nd round of the 2008 Memorial Tournament.  Jerry Kelly (-6) and Justin Rose (-5) are right behind and looking to make a move on Saturday.  Dan Farkas gives you the summary of today's events.  Click to watch the video.

bulletBirthday boy makes cut
By Dave Seaman, Columbus Wired
What a better way to celebrate your 30th birthday than to make the cut at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club. That’s exactly what Olentangy graduate Travis Perkins did, shooting a two-over, 74 in the second round. His 36-hole total of 150 is good enough to allow him to keep playing this weekend...more

bullet (2nd Round Video) Behind the ropes: Mathew Goggin grateful for par
The first round leader pared only five holes all day. If golf fans believe the glass is half full, Mathew Goggin had more birdies than pars. If golf fans believe the glass is half empty, Mathew Goggin had more bogies that pars. “Pretty unusual,” the Australian admitted after his second round 72, a round that featured 7 birdies, 5 pars, 5 bogies, and one double bogey. In spite of the inconsistent play, the result was consistent to Thursday, a score good enough to keep him at the top of the 33rd Memorial and Muirfield Village.  Click the video icon to hear Goggin’s post-round press conference.

bullet (2nd Round Video) Behind the ropes: Jerry Kelly “Lets wind alter my swing.”
Kelly called his second round at the Memorial “sloppy,” yet sits near the top of the leader board heading into the weekend. “I let the wind alter my swing.” Those were the first words from a frustrated Jerry Kelly after his level par 72 at Muirfield Village Country Club in Dublin. Kelly was again paired with first round leader Mathew Goggin. Unlike Thursday’s birdie bonanza, Friday featured more wind, more scrambling, and more frustration for the Madison, Wisconsin native. Click the video icon to get Kelly’s comments on Friday and the weekend ahead.

bullet FIRST ROUND BLOGS AND NOTES

bullet Mathew Goggin fun facts: Before Thursday, most local golf fans had never heard of Mathew Goggin. Amazing what a 65 during the first round of the Memorial can do for a person’s name recognition. Here are some Mathew Goggin fun facts for those wanting to know more about the man who went to sleep Thursday night leading the 33rd Memorial in Dublin, Ohio.  -Mathew’s best finish on tour was 2nd in the 2006 Western Open.  -His last win was in 1999 at the Lehigh Valley Open. -Mathew’s mother was a three-time Australian Amateur champion. -His favorite hobby is playing the guitar.  Watch what he has to say about his first round success.

bullet (VIDEO) Kenny Perry in second place Memorial after 1st round.
Kenny Perry is in second at the 2008 PGA Memorial after one round. His 6-under par 66 lead until Matthew Coggin carded a 7-under par to take the lead after the 1st round.  Conditions were tough as the ball rolled through the fairways, difficult to get out of the rough and the greens were fast.

bullet (VIDEO) Behind the roles: Local golfer gets on leader board
The first time Joe Ogilvie played Muirfield Country Club in Dublin, he was 11.  “I barely got my drive over the water,” the Lancaster native said of his first shot. “My driver wasn’t very good back then.”  20 years later, Ogilvie’s driver has made plenty of progress, as has his entire game. A first round 69 has the Duke graduate on the first page of the leader board at the 33rd Memorial in Dublin.  Click the video icon to get behind the ropes, where Ogilvie talks about his round and while the first round numbers might be the best fans see for the week.

bullet (VIDEO) Behind the ropes: Robert Allenby seeks first tournament title since 2001
Robert Allenby’s best finish at the Memorial was a 7th place finish back in 2001. Since then, he hasn’t done better than 32nd, with two withdrawals and a missed cut added to an otherwise forgettable 21st century resume. In 2008, the Australian reversed fortune, if at least for one round. A 69 has him a handful of shots away from the leader, with conditions expected to make the course tougher during the weekend. Go behind the ropes with Robert Allenby, getting his perspective on round one and what it will take to replicate his efforts through Sunday.

bullet (VIDEO) Behind the Ropes: Brett Quigley pushes for elusive title
The Arkansas Classic is a long way from the Muirfield Country Club in Dublin. Brett Quigley might be the person to mesh the two together. Quigley hasn’t won on American Soil since taking the Arkansas Classic trophy during a Nationwide Tour event in 2001. A first round 67 has him in position to make a run at his first PGA Tournament title. Go behind the ropes with Brett Quigley to see his post-round press conference.

bulletRose blossoms with new driver
By Dan Farkas, Columbus Wired
After missing last year’s Memorial with an injury, Justin Rose set an early pace with a first round 68.  A new driver helped fix a wilting element of Justin Rose’s golf game.  Rose used a Super Quad driver for the first time on Thursday, firing a four under par 68 during the first round of The Memorial at Muirfield Country Club in Dublin...more

bulletRough isn’t the only thing rough at Muirfield
By Dan Farkas, Columbus Wired
Greens have speed that “Might make Augusta envious.” The rough may not be the roughest thing at this year’s Memorial but most golfer agree the greens are the fastest they’ve ever seen at Muirfield, and perhaps the fastest they’ve seen all season, including Augusta National...more

One year later, that one win is something Moore can only savor. Click the video icon to see why a return to Murifield might be the one thing Moore needs to stop savoring, and start experiencing. You'll also see how his life has changed, while his work around the course remains strikingly similar.

bullet (VIDEO) The Chase for the Fed Ex Cup has catapulted golfers from middle of the pack to mainstream in the matter of weeks.  It's a reality Ryuji Imada is learning first hand.  Fresh off his first win on the PGA tour and 3rd in the Fed Ex Cup standings, Imada met with reporters Wednesday. bulletNicklaus Continues To Teach
By Nate Smith, Columbus Wired
