D.C. United claiming the Supporters' Shield for most points in a
season and the Columbus Crew watching the playoff door slam in
their face. It was only fitting that the Crew get a little
revenge and the last laugh during their home, and season, finale

Jackets defeat Nashville

It was a rollercoaster ride of emotion Friday night as the
Columbus Blue Jackets played its home opener against the
Nashville Predators. Before the game, the organization honored
its late founder John. H. McConnell with a tribute and the
traditional opening night introductions. Once the game began,
rookies Nikita Filatov and Jakub Voracek each scored and captain
Rick Nash scored two to give Columbus a four-goal cushion. The
Predators rallied to get within a goal early in the third but
get no closer as the Jackets won 5-3 in front of 17,930....more
Buckeyes
not offensive in 16-3 win over Purdue

After gaining 327 yards last week in a 20-17 win at
Wisconsin, the Ohio State Buckeyes returned home, defeating the
Purdue Boilermakers 16-3 in a game where the OSU offense failed
to generate any points. The defense and special teams accounted
for all of the scoring. Cornerback Malcom Jenkins blocked a punt
attempt by Purdue and freshman Etienne Sabino took the ball in
the end zone to put the Bucks up 7-0. Ryan Pretorius made two
field goals and Aaron Petry booted a 49-yarder to give OSU a
16-3 win and remain undefeated in the Big Ten Conference....more

begin Big-10 season with 34-21 win over Minnesota
The Buckeyes began the Big-10 season with a home game
against the Minnesota Gophers, who were coming in with a record
of 4-0 in non-conference games. OSU freshman Terrelle Pryer
threw for 1 TD and ran for two more to lead his team past the
Gophers 34-21. Brian Robiskie caught two TD passes, including
one from Sr. QB Todd Boeckman. The defense created two timely
interceptions by Donald Washington and running back Chris
'Beanie' Wells also made his first start since the Youngstown
State game and ran well, gaining over 100 yards...more

State's Terrelle Pryor Tosses 4 TD's in 28-10 Win Over Troy

Ohio State returned home after a potentially devastating loss to
USC and shook off the rust with a 28-10 win over Troy (Alabama)
University. Terrelle Pryor started the game and threw for a
freshman record 4 touchdown passes. The defense allowed the
high powered Trojan offense to move up and down the field (over
300 yards), but only allowed one TD run and a field goal.
Special teams was instrumental with two punts by A.J. Trapasso
to pin Troy within their own 5 yard line. Brian Robiskie caught
one TD pass, Brian Hartline pulled down two TD's and another was
caught by Rory Nichol, who has not caught a TD pass in two

Salt Lake at Columbus Crew Stadium. Goals by Chad Marshall and
Guillermo Barros Schelotto in the 15th and 25th minutes and
another by Brad Evans in the second half fueled the Crew to it’s
seventh home win this year tying them with New England for the
top spot in the Eastern Conference win only nine games

talking about the Olympics. The Nationwide Tour also uses
gold to clearly identify the top 25 golfers on tour. The
significance is special because the top-25 automatically
qualifies for the big show, the PGA Tour. This week,
the Nationwide Tour stops in Columbus, Ohio as the
Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational. The player that
claims the victory at the Ohio State University Scarlet
Course is virtually guaranteed a spot next year on the PGA

Hitchcock's Contract Extended

center R.J. Umberger raved about being reacquainted with
former Philadelphia coach Ken Hitchcock after signing a
four-year deal on Monday. Now the two will be together
in Columbus for the length of his contract. The Blue

played in Ohio Stadium with a 58-7 romp over Northwestern in
the Big Ten opener for both teams. Everything seemed to
click on offense as OSU scored on its first three
possessions, two TD passes to Brian Robiskie and a Chris
Wells rushing TD. The defense added a fumble recovery for
another TD to put the Bucks up 28-0 by the end of the 1st
