Pettersson hangs
steady for his second PGA victory

Rain once again played slight havoc with the
Memorial Tournament. At 4:15, play was temporarily suspended for
30 minutes due to inclement weather with thunderstorms in the
area. At the time Carl Pettersson was still in the lead with
12-under par. He was able to weather the storm to keep ahead of
both Brett Wetterich (5-under round) and Zack Johnson (2-under
round) who tied for second with 10-under par...more

The weather once again interrupted
play at the 2006 Memorial Tournament. Late in the day, with the
second round finally completed and the third round nearly done,
the horn sounded indicating lighting and thunderstorms in the
area at 7:58 pm. 25 players had yet to complete the round. Carl
Pettersson (-11) remained in the lead, followed by Woody Austin
(-10), Zach Johnson and Phil Mickelson (-8)...more

Beer and buddies
(and, oh yeah, golf) top reasons for Memorial's popularity

For Chris Dyer, a 35-year-old resident of Indianapolis
attending his second Memorial Tournament at Muirfield GC in
Dublin, Ohio, this weekend is about more than just golf. “I
drink beer, hang out with friends and enjoy the sunny weather,”
said the medical salesman. His Memorial time is so memorable, in
fact, he intends to make the three-hour trek for the golf
tournament an annual tradition...more

Another year,
another delay (2nd Round)

Delay, delay, delay. Once again the skies opened up at the
Memorial Tournament causing play to be stopped for six hours due
to flooding rainstorms and unplayable course conditions. Carl
Pettersson made the most of his day carding a 5-under par to
move into first place with an overall score of 8-under par. He
birdied five of the last seven holes...more

The first round of the 2006 Memorial got underway today with
Sean O’Hair the clubhouse leader at 5-under par. But , Steve Flesch
was at 6-under par when play was suspended at 5:32 for the day
due to thunderstorms and lighting in the area. He was on the
18th hole with playing partner Zach Johnson (-4) when play was

active in tennis and basketball, and even played a year of

Players prepare
without Jack and Tiger
by Dave Weissman, Columbus Wired Today was the final practice round
before the 2006 Memorial Tournament begins for real tomorrow.
The tournament will be without both Jack Nicklaus and Tiger
Woods, who has not played in 10 weeks during his father’s
illness and subsequent death.
The tournament will however, have 2006 Master Champion Phil

Journeyman Bart Bryant pulled out a stunning and one
of the most dramatic finishes in tournament history, edging out
Fred Couples by one shot to earn his second tour win of his
career.

one to impress and be impressed with winning the final round by only
two strokes; scoring 66 with a final score of 18-under par, 270 to
