Birthing A Revolution Movement, Part 1
by Kim Weissman

When the Colonist had a revolution they formed a nation. When the women had a revolution they changed the work place. When the homosexuals had a revolution they changed the mind of society. When the Christians have a revolution God will bring a revival. The Revolutionary message has always been that you must give your own life in order save it. The Jesus Revolution is no different. In fact it was Jesus who said, "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 11:39. However, unlike any other Revolution we have a guarantee...the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church. Matthew 16:18.

The central theme of Dr. Brown's message is that it's time for America to stop being afraid to gain a revolutionary mentality. We need to because #1 Jesus had a revolutionary mentality and #2 our nation needs it. We have denied our King His authority over this land far too long. The Church in the book of Acts understood the revolutionary mentality. They weren't afraid to stand up for the Word of God. They even died for the Word of God. They remembered God's Word...choose you this day whom ye will serve... but as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Dr. Brown used Matthew 16:21 to illustrate the point that Jesus came with a radical message. All of Israel expected a messianic King who would free them from the Roman tyranny. They completely ignored the Scriptures that taught of a suffering servant who would be rejected and killed. It was a message some couldn't accept, even unto this day. This radical message, that many were martyred for turned the world upside down and will continue to do so as long as people keep preaching it.

Jesus had a message that was hard to hear... "For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed." John 6:55. This flesh and blood is the living Word of God that became flesh and dwelt among us. Like many in Jesus' day Christians cannot bear to eat and drink of this Word. They choose to be political correct instead of following Jesus. Many of us have forgotten that He is the stumbling block, a reproach among men and an offensive to many. We are always trying to explain away or twist God's Word to meet our particular needs. We have forgotten that God's Word has to be offensive, in order to convict the sinner unto repentance and eternal salvation.

In the dawning of new age philosophies we tend to preach a message that is watered down and acceptable to society. Not every one can bear to eat and drink the Word that taste good in the mouth but is sour in the stomach. We are afraid of offending this generation. However, the Bible teaches that God's Word will be an offensive to many. This Child (Jesus) was to be set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel (and as history shows, the whole world). He (Jesus) is a sign, which shall be spoken against. So if the Gospel message you preach doesn't offend and convict the sinners, then your preaching the wrong gospel. We cannot trade the truth for a political correct message that will bring no one salvation.
