Columbus starting pitcher Jason Stanford had a rough time with the Durham
hitters giving up seven earned runs in the third inning and bringing his night
to a quick end.
While on the other side of the diamond, Durham starting pitcher Mike
Prochaska only gave up one run in his five innings of work.
A solo shot by
the Clippers Alex Escobar. Prochaska picked up the win in his first start.
Durham center fielder Fernando Perez had the hot bat tonight going 3-6 with
4 RBI. Those RBI came on two two-run triples. Including one that started
the seven run rally in the third inning. Another hot bat belonged to Durhams Evan Longoria who went 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
The only real bright spot for the Clippers tonight came from the three
homeruns in the game (the first for the Clippers this season) including back to
back blasts in the seventh inning by Ryan Langerhans and Kory Casto. Tony
Batista also collected two hits in the game.
The next game is tonight at 7:05 at Cooper Stadium. Clippers LHP Mike
O'Connor (0-0, 0.00) vs. Bulls RHP Jeff Niemann (0-1, 1.80 ERA).
