BLUE JACKETS LEFT WING RICK NASH NAMED NHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
The 18-year-old forward registered four goals, nine points in 15 games during the month of November

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The National Hockey League announced today that Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Rick Nash has been named the League's Rookie of the Month for the month of November.

Nash, 18, tallied nine points on four goals and five assists in 15 games during the month of November. He had an even plus/minus rating and fired off 24 shots on goal during that stretch. Nash picked up points in eight-of-15 games and posted an even or plus plus/minus rating in 10 of those contests. He notched the first two-goal game of his NHL career vs. the New York Rangers on November 9 and picked up a point in four-straight games from November 7-14 (2-3-5).

The 6-4, 195-pounder continues to steadily climb the NHL rookie scoring chart as he posted goals in back-to-back games for the first time last week to raise his season totals to 5-7-12 in 23 games. Nash currently ranks third among NHL rookies in goals and points and has tallied 4-4-8 in his last 12 games.

Nash was the first player taken in the 2002 Entry Draft on June 22 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto after enjoying an outstanding season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. He registered 32-40-72 and 88 penalty minutes in 54 games, leading the club in goals. He added a team-leading 10-9-19 and 21 penalty minutes in 12 playoff games. A member of Team Canada at the 2002 World Junior Championships, he tallied 1-2-3 in seven games and helped his team win the silver medal.

The Brampton, Ontario native was the OHL Rookie of the Year and earned Canadian Hockey League All-Rookie honors in 2000-01 after scoring 31-35-66 with 56 penalty minutes in 58 games with London. That year he also helped Canada's under-18 team win a gold medal at the 2001 Six Nations Tournament, leading the team in scoring with 5-5-10 in five games.
